Social Programme

In the tradition of IIRA Congresses there will be plenty of informal social interaction over food and drinks, and visits arranged to places of historic and cultural interest in and around Manchester.

A welcome reception will be provided at the start of the congress; drinks receptions will be held during the congress, with the Congress dinner being held in the historic venue of Manchester Town Hall.

Delegates will be provided with a list of recommended restaurants – Manchester has some of the best eating places in Britain, covering a wide range of ethnic cuisine, including the largest Chinese restaurant in Europe.

Manchester is a vibrant city with something for every taste and the organisers will help you find something to suit yours. The city is famous for its partying, with a great club and music culture; has a large number of excellent art galleries and museums (including one sited on the oldest passenger railway station in the world) and – of course – a rather well known football club.

** Efforts are being made to secure 2 tickets for a Manchester United home game should such a game take place at the time of the congress. The fixture list will not be known until August, hence it is not yet possible to indicate whether a home game will take place. If a home game takes place and we are able to secure tickets, delegates registering as 'earlybird' before the end of May, will be entered into a lottery draw for these tickets.

Accompanying Persons Programme

The mini programme being arranged is as follows:

Monday welcome reception;
Half day walking tour of Manchester;
Full day trip to include Quarry Bank Mill (further details shortly);
